Fernando Zacarías, MD, DrPH
Dr. Zacarias has been an international Mentor for more than 30 years. As the Principal Mentor and Program Coordinator, Dr. Zacarias gives advice and support to both Mentors and Mentées, manages the program, and provides technical and intellectual leadership in the development and strengthening of MultiPOD Mentoring.

External Relations and Resource Mobilization Officer (ERO)
Shirley Bejarano, MS, MPH (Colombia/ United States)
Shirley Bejarano (2017) holds a B.A. degree in Anthropology and a Master’s of Public Health Practice degree (MPH) from the University of South Florida, and a Master’s degree in Global Health from the ISGlobal-University of Barcelona.
Shirley was Co-founder of the “Global Health Next Generation Network” and is a member of the “Women for Global Health” organization. She is currently the Director of Education and Prevention at the AIDS Center of Queens County/AIDS Healthcare Foundation in New York City. She is fluent in English and Spanish.
Webmaster and Communications Officer (WCO)
Veronica Costea, BS, MSc (Romania/Sweden)
Veronica Costea (2018) holds a Bachelor Degree in Public Administration from “Simion Barnutiu” Faculty of Law (“Lucian Blaga” University, Sibiu, Romania), a Professional Bachelor degree in Global Nutrition and Health from VIA University College, Aarhus, Denmark, and a Master of Medical Sciences in International Public Health from Uppsala University, Sweden. Veronica is the former Chair of the Swedish Network for International Health, a consortium of four universities and the Karolinska Institute in Sweden. She is fluent in English, Romanian and Spanish and has working knowledge of Swedish.
Evaluation and Analysis Officer (EAO)
Lauren E. MacDonald, BScH, MSc, MSc (Canada)
Lauren MacDonald (2017) is MultiPOD’s Evaluation and Analysis Officer. Lauren has a Master of Science in Parasitology and a Master of Science in Epidemiology. In addition, she has more than 10 years of professional experience working as an infectious disease Epidemiologist both within Canada and internationally, including in Vietnam, Austria, and Nigeria. In addition to her support to the MultiPOD program, she currently works with students and young professionals in Vietnam, Rwanda and China to build skills and experience in epidemiological research methods.
Research and Development Officer (RDO)
Ei Ei Aung, BDS, PhD
Ei Ei Aung (2017) holds a Ph.D. degree in Public Health, from Tokyo Medical and Dental University, Japan with a professional degree in Dentistry from University of Dental Medicine, Yangon, Myanmar. Ei Ei previously worked as a policy researcher at International Health Policy Program Foundation, Thailand. She is currently working as a researcher at Tokyo Medical and Dental University. Ei Ei is the former “Junior Ambassador” and “Peace Ambassador” to represent Myanmar at the 9th and 16th Asian-Pacific Children’s Convention in Fukuoka, Japan. She is fluent in in English and Burmese, and has working knowledge of Japanese.
Social Media and Promotion Officer (SMPO)
Andreea Badache, BS, MSc (Romania/Sweden)
Andreea Badache (2017) holds a Bachelor Degree in Physiotherapy from Babes Bolyai University, Romania, an MSc degree in Rehabilitation Sciences (specialization: Neurological Rehabilitation) from KU Leuven, Belgium, and an MSc degree in Healthcare Policy, Innovation, and Management from Maastricht University, the Netherlands. She is currently a Ph.D. candidate in Disability Sciences and Aging (Marie-Curie fellow) at Örebro University in Sweden. Andreea is also the Projects and Partnership Manager of the Global Health Next Generation Network. She is fluent in English, Romanian, Dutch and Spanish and has working knowledge of Italian, Portuguese and French.
Special Projects Officer (SPO)
Anna Frühauf, BA, MSc (Germany/Sierra Leone)
Anna Frühauf holds a B.A. degree in Human, Social and Political Sciences from the University of Cambridge and a Masters of Science in Public Health from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. In addition, she has worked for different public health organisations across a wide range of countries, and has supported the student-led social impact initiatives “Polygeia” and “Impact for Innovation Cambridge” for several years.
She currently works for Partners In Health Sierra Leone, where she provides programmatic support and also coordinates the organisation’s professional development and training activities. Anna speaks German, English and French.
Policy and Advocacy Officer (PAO)
Deepshikha Chhetri, BSc, MSc
Deepshikha is a Public Health Nutritionist. She holds both her Bachelor's and Master's Degree in Food Science and Nutrition. Currently, she is working as Chief Minister's Good Governance Associate in Government of Haryana, where along with working on various flagship programs she has been extensively working on improving Primary Healthcare services. Prior to that, as India Fellow, she worked with the tribal community of Kotra Village in Rajasthan and successfully initiated projects on improving health and hygiene practices. Along with this, she has interned with various non-profit organizations and assisted in research projects.
